In 2016, the occupancy rates exceeded the 2007 historical results in all indicators, according to the Portugal Hotel Association (AHP). The average business volume per year increased by 13.2% in comparison to the 2008 global crisis prices.
Last year was extraordinary and, apparently, 2017 will be the best year ever, with forecasts of 3.1% increase in occupancy rates and a 6.1% increase in volume of business, anticipating the Association of Hotels and Resorts in the Algarve (AHETA).
Carnival and Easter week have hit records of about 90% occupancy and are expected to reach 65% occupancy rates per year.
The British continue to be the highest contributors with an increase of 14.7%, as well as French, German and Spanish. The demand of the national market suffered an increase as a result of economic recovery and confidence.
According to AHETA, the good results obtained are mainly the result of "the climate of instability that has been affecting many of the Algarve's most direct competitors."
We, therefore, advise those who are thinking about their summer holidays to reserve a place in the sun ASAP; And for those who want to invest, we recommend you to buy a property in the Algarve and expect a fantastic return on investment.
